As a Technician Operator you will provide contractor oversight through area inspections and ensure contractor safety by managing Lockout Tag Out (LOTO), Gas Detection, and issuing work permits. Your goal will be to support the operations area of distribution in ensuring safe and accurate unloading of product, proper inventory recording, and maintaining efficiency and effectiveness of equipment and inventory. Your success will depend on executing day-to-day activities that uphold safety standards, ensure quality control of products in terminals, and contribute to operational efficiency.

- Maintain and demonstrate a good understanding of the Terminal systems, equipment and operating procedures
- Recognizes potential energy sources and applies LOTO to ensure a system is removed from service and can be safely worked on or is safely secured
- Issues Work Permits and supports contractor safety through area inspections and ensuring Irving Oil processes and standards are followed
- Conducts Gas Detection ensuring atmospheric conditions are safe
- Receives product by gauging tanks, reconciling inventory, and ensuring equipment is properly assembled as a means of maintaining inventory and protecting the company from environmental emergencies
- Ensures a high quality of Irving Oil products through quality control including sampling and testing incoming product and inventory supply
- Performs preventative maintenance through the completion of regular checklists and operating procedures on equipment to ensure maximum utilization and longer life span
- Shares knowledge learned, hazards recognized and assists with the development of junior operators
- Assists Drivers as required and provides excellent customer service

- High School Diploma required. Community College or technical training is an asset
- 2+ years’ experience in the oil and gas industry required. Additional relevant and applicable experience or secondary schooling is a strong asset- Understanding of Process Safety Management and an understanding of their required active participation
