Mechanical Engineer (Intermediate – Nuclear Construction Support)
Location: Oakville, Ontario (office base) Primary Work Location: Bruce Power (site-based) Term: Medium to long-term assignment (6 months to 2 years)
Kai Cao Inc. is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to support construction planning and execution activities within the nuclear industry. This role is primarily site-based at Bruce Power, where the successful candidate will contribute directly to planning, documentation, and execution of construction work.
This is a working engineer role, focused on delivering engineering scope, supporting field activities, and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable requirements.
This position is being hired to support an immediate project need.
- Develop and support work plans, procedures, and execution strategies for construction activities
- Interface with client representatives, station staff, QA, and engineering teams
- Prepare and review technical specifications, code requirements, and project documentation
- Support tooling design, mock-ups, and fabrication planning
- Define mock-up requirements and support testing/validation activities
- Assist in development of automated welding and specialized tooling solutions
- Review project scope, schedules, and technical requirements to support execution
- Prepare engineering documentation and support field implementation and oversight
- Coordinate with site teams to resolve technical and execution-related issues
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Approximately 5+ years of experience in the nuclear industry or a highly regulated environment- Working knowledge of nuclear codes and standards
- Experience supporting construction, fabrication, or field execution activities
- Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar design tools
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Active Nuclear Security Clearance is required
- Due to immediate project needs, only candidates with valid clearance will be considered

- Willingness to work on-site for extended durations (6 months to 2 years)
- Ability to work shifts and overtime as required
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel

This role will require frequent travel, with primary deployment at Bruce Power for extended periods.
