About the Opportunity
The Material Processor is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.
Under direct supervision, performs manual and routine work in the handling, reclamation and processing of materials and equipment and, as qualified, performs shop work requiring a minor degree of skill; performs duties such as:
- Performs safe operation of the scrap chopper and all other automated equipment and tools for the r eclamation of cable, wire, and other materials;
- Loads and unloads trailers using Bobcat loader;
- Lifting, moving, unloading/receiving and placing materials such as line hardware, crossarms, cable, wire, lamp brackets, casting, mill parts, tools, work supplies, etc., by means of forklifts; driving Company motor vehicles, including trucks, as required.
- Transferring able and wire from reel to reel and performing simple measuring and cutting operations; recoiling and cutting wire to required len gths.
- Repairing items and fixtures of simple con struction and such as pallets, racks, bins, shelving, crates and boxes; assembling units such as splice and dead end assemblies, cutout brackets, lam . brackets and temporary meter units.
- Performing simple mechanical operations on wood and metal; using power and hand tools and ordinary power shop equipment where templates or layouts are provided, or where close tolerances are not required.
- Fitting and dipping mast-arms; painting items such as lamp bra ckets , reels and drums , pipe, conduit and barricades with brushes, spray guns and/or dipping tanks.
- Checking, adding water and charging batteries as required for industrial trucks.
- Performing a I other similar and/or less skilled work as directed by the Company.
Must meet the Company's requirements as to General Qualifications; be able to rm all the perform duties of a Material Processing Helper; and in addition:
- Must beab le to understand instruction andlearn simple, routine procedures.
- Must be a h i gh school graduate, or the equivalent.
- Must have practical knowledge of the correct, safe use and care of common mechanic’s tools and hand tools.
- Must understand the function, operation and care of simple machinery and show aptitude for, as well as interest in, mechanical work.
- Must be able to make calculations in arithmetic involving fractions and decimal ; know common weights and measures; take accurate measurements.
- Must be able to drive a passenger car and truck and have the ability to pass the Company's training fork lift, Bobcat loader and operation of both.
- Must have a valid driver's license as prescribed by the Company.
