Responsible for the material handling process at the Generation site, including the unloading of fuel, coal pile management, operation of conveyor systems, fueling of generation units, and handling of coal combustion residue (CCR). Responsible for the maintenance of all mechanical systems in the Material Handling area of the Generation facility.
This position has a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Maintenance Supervisor, as there are Maintenance personnel assigned to Material Handling.
+ Investigate, review, and approve work requests and supporting documentation in the computerized maintenance management system. + Distribute work assignments as appropriate to ensure that all routine and corrective maintenance projects are carried out timely. + Track the movement, unloading, and status of train sets in conjunction with transportation consultant and Fuel Procurement Committee. + Work with Planning & Scheduling to schedule routine and corrective maintenance. + Administer Hold Tag/Lockout Tagout program at the Material Handling area, including the isolation of nuclear devices. + Oversee the CCR by-product scale tickets and forward the information to Accounting for billing. + Work with Vehicle Maintenance and outside contractors to ensure equipment is operating correctly and maintenance is done as needed. + Oversee the snow removal process at the Generation site and landfill and assist with the Generation Flood Response Procedure. + Monitor the dust levels at the landfill to maintain compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. Maintain proper operation of all active and non-active ash cells. + Ensure that Material Handling cleanliness standards meet the Combustible Dust Containment Program.
+ Make recommendations for hiring, promotion, evaluation, discharge, or other disciplinary action. + Prepare and adjust work schedules to meet the demands of the department and authorize overtime as necessary. + Train employees on MPW policies and procedures and ensure employees understand thoroughly. + Provide guidance to staff regarding work procedures, technical issues, work priorities, and special requests. + Assess, actively develop, and set goals with employees to assist in their preparation for future growth within the Utility. + Develop/maintain a culture of continuous improvement within the department. Utilize lean principles and other continuous improvement tools in an effort to maximize the efficiency of the department. + Develop/maintain a culture of safety within the department. Support the Utility’s safety programs, ensure adequate training, and provide safe working conditions and practices. + Ensure quality customer service is provided and that work is completed accurately, thoroughly, safely, timely, and that employees are as productive as possible.
