Federal Tool & Engineering is seeking a skilled Press Brake Operator to join our precision-driven manufacturing team. This role is ideal for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience in press brake operations. The operator will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating various press brakes—including Amada, Triumph, and Diamond models—to perform complex forming, bending, punching, and notching tasks. Candidates must be proficient in reading technical drawings, using precision measurement tools, and ensuring product quality through inspections and documentation. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates attention to detail, and is committed to continuous improvement and safety standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

- Set-ups adjust and operate all sizes of press breaks to perform a wide variety of operations such as forming, bending, punching, and notching where procedures are prescribed and standardized.

- Set-up dies and gauges, adjust ram stroke.

- Determine sequence of multiple pass operations to make required bends on complicated sections or angle forming or compound radii.

- Set-up fixed and adjustable punching dies and gauges for multiple and series punching.

- Work from drawings, specifications, patterns or templates.

- Work is subject to first piece quality and final inspections.

- Inspect finished products for quality control and adherence to customer specifications. Utilize measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, protractors, and ring gauges to ensure precision.

- Assist engineers in the development, building, or testing of prototypes, new products, processes, or procedures. Measure and record data related to equipment performance and product functionality.

- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including cleaning production equipment and using appropriate cleaning materials, tools, and equipment. Adhere to safety standards for proper handling of hazardous materials.

- Document procedures, report equipment malfunctions, and track inventory accurately. Ensure proper start-up and shut-down procedures are followed.

- Guide/Train operators on procedures, machine operation, quality and packaging process.

- Other Duties as assigned.


Qualifications and/or Skills required

- Strong Mechanical Aptitude and Spatial Relations

- Minimum of 2-3 years of machine set-up experience preferably in stamping

- Experience set-up and operating Amada, Triumph, and Diamond Press Breaks.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task is crucial

- Manufacturing and ISO 9001:2015 experience, preferred

- Experience using Micrometers, height gauges, and calipers.

- High School Diploma or Equivalent

- Knowledge and ability to use measuring devices such as height gauge, caliper, micrometer, etc.

- Math, reading, and language skills able to effectively utilize company information systems

Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

During the performance of his/her work duties, the incumbent will regularly lift up to 50 pounds and will frequently lift up to 25 pounds, such as removing materials from shipping containers.

The employee works in a manufacturing environment and is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and work in high places. He/she is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is loud.

Typical work hours may vary and the potential for overtime is possible and may be mandatory. Due to production requirements you may be required to work flexible hours or work on a different shift. Additionally, work requirements will vary and you must be prepared to perform a variety of tasks as needed to service the needs of our customers.
