The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the Maintenance Team through scheduled and unscheduled repairs and projects around the Altec Aluminum Extrusion Plant. The ideal candidate has proven hands on experience with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment repair. This position plays a key role in ensuring production runs smoothly and efficiently. The Maintenance Manager maintains an active role on the Plant Management Team and is committed to continuous improvement.
Be prepared for overtime – with an average work week at 55 hours
- Leads the Maintenance Team through a safe and productive shift
- Ability to diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment within the plant.
- Ability to wire electrical components to equipment
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair VFD’s, motor/wiring configurations, PLC’s, electrical schematics, and control circuits
- Creates and maintains spare parts inventory
- Trains team to perform routine maintenance of age oven components, doors, fans, and burners, thermocouples, etc.
- Works closely with the plant management team and outside contractors to strategically drive projects through to completion
- Reacts to all unexpected downtime with a course of action to get repairs made timely and effectively
- Coordinates the ordering of parts and supplies with the purchasing department
- Trains their team on the operation of maintenance equipment
- Manages preventative maintenance and ensures all tasks are being completed
- Ability to direct support resources as required
- Maintains a clean and organized maintenance work area and ensures tools are in good working condition
- Safety conscience and exposure to lock-out-tag-out procedures
- Solid understanding of PLC programming
- Hands on experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment
- Previous electrical/electrician training or apprenticeship
- Strong management skills with proven ability to lead
- Self-motivated, responsible and requires minimal direction
- Must be able to apply good judgment and make decisions independently
- Positive, collaborative, and open-minded attitude.
- Associate degree or equivalent 2 years of college or technical school preferred
- 3-7 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment
