Develops and directs orderly program for maintenance and housekeeping of plant facility and all plant equipment in coordination with the Director of Engineering.
- Supervises, schedules, directs and evaluates the performance of subordinates.
- Participates in the development, supervises the implementation and scheduling of routine and special preventative maintenance programs.
- Establishes proper initial inventory level and re-supply procedure to ensure economical and adequate supply of repair parts and maintenance consumables, including maintenance oils and greases.
- Analyzes maintenance problems to ascertain relative seriousness.
- Determines whether solution can be implemented routinely during working hours or if it requires priority, after shift, or overtime attention, or if outside contractor is needed.
- Maintains daily, weekly and monthly overtime and maintenance rosters.
- Coordinates maintenance and other support personnel requirements with other supervisors regarding needed support on overtime or clean-up operations.
- Establishes and controls maintenance department budgets and monitors performance against approved budget objectives.
- Shuts down facility equipment when failure to repair may result in more serious damage and advises other responsible supervisory personnel when such action is necessary.
- Recommends and prepares justification for major maintenance purchases.
- Participates in preparation of annual operating budget by furnishing detailed analysis of projected costs. Recommends number of maintenance personnel needed to accomplish anticipated annual workload.
- Coordinates outside contractor work related to plant equipment maintenance.
- Administers provisions of Union contract and Company policies governing employees to avoid breaching contract and to maintain high level employer - employee relations. Informs employees of any violations, issues warnings where warranted, and initiates disciplinary action if needed.
- Directs and participates in the preparation of operating budget covering revenues, expenses and investments as specifically applicable to department.
- Develops and confirms the plans by which management objectives for efficiency and improvement can be met.
- Provides all necessary supporting justifications and secures management approval.
- Reports both performance and outlook to management, including plans of action to correct unfavorable variations.
- Performs assignments as requested by the Director of Engineering and other management representatives and as required to support the best interest of the Company.

- Must posses a technical degree or have at least five years of work experience in a similar position.
- Ability to analyze problem situations.
