- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel mobile equipment, peeling yard machinery, kilns, yard tools, and facility systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Conduct equipment inspections and report any potential issues to management.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety policies and company safety procedures.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance needs and assist in larger repair projects.
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or certification preferred).
- Minimum five years of experience as a certified welder required
- 2+ years of maintenance experience, including welding, mechanical repairs, or electrical work.- Experience with mobile equipment, automotive, agricultural, electrical, HVAC, or plumbing is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools, read blueprints, and follow safety regulations.
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the functionality of all equipment and machinery in the plant, yard, and office facility while complying with OSHA safety policies and local codes. This includes preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and both regular and emergency repairs on mobile equipment, treating plant equipment, yard machinery, and power tools.
- Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a range of vehicles and equipment.
- Conduct diagnostic tests to identify issues and determine necessary repairs on diesel engines.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on machines to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
- Show excellence in diverse maintenance fields, including welding (especially stick), electrical, automotive, mechanical, carpentry, diesel and engine mechanics, and automation.
- Execute a wide range of maintenance tasks, encompassing welding, electrical work, HVAC systems, automotive and carpentry, demonstrating expertise in these areas.
- Independently address and troubleshoot complex repairs, including identifying and resolving issues, diagnosing faults, and recommending improvements.
- Lead equipment inspections, identifying and documenting issues, and coordinating with senior technicians or management to implement corrective actions.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, identifying and promptly resolving safety hazards, and implementing proactive safety measures.
- Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory, providing data for performance analysis and cost control.
- Collaborate with others on major maintenance projects, installations, and renovations.
- Spearhead preventive maintenance programs, utilizing your expertise to optimize equipment performance, extend longevity, and reduce downtime.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose maintenance issues to determine the best course of action for repair.
- Be available for on-call duties and respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or certification preferred).
- Diesel mechanical expertise preferred.
- ASE certification preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent, with additional technical training or certification preferred.
- Substantial prior experience in general maintenance or a related field. Proficiency in heavy mobile equipment, automotive, agricultural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, and carpentry techniques.
- Expertise in maintaining heavy mobile equipment, automotive, agricultural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, advanced carpentry, and automation technologies.
- Expertise in operating a wide array of hand and power tools.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and adaptability.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
- Willingness to continually learn and stay updated on emerging maintenance technologies and practices.
- A valid driver's license and dependable transportation may be required.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
- Proficiency in operating PCs, office equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Ability to safely ascend/descend ladders, walk, and stand for extended periods.
- Must be fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Knowledge of MSDS sheets for required chemical compounds.
- Ability to properly use and maintain PPE and safety equipment.
- Above-average welding skills as determined by Bell Lumber & Pole Management.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required.
If assigned to hazardous waste-related tasks, employees must complete Bell Lumber & Pole’s Hazardous Waste Management Training and sign the team addendum outlining specific duties and policies. Employees without this training are not authorized to perform hazardous waste management duties.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, reach, sit, talk, hear, and use hands.
- Regularly lift/move 25 lbs, occasionally up to 50+ lbs.- Work in an industrial environment with exposure to heat, cold, precipitation, fumes, noise, and chemicals.
- Overtime may be required, including overnight stays.
