The Machinist Trainee/Machine Operator will report to the Mill Manager
The Machinist Trainee/Machine Operator is an entry level/training position that entails an employee’s ability to run parts. This position does not cover programming or setup of a machine by themselves. The basic purpose of this position is familiarization with a machine, and prior to running a job, the employee will be shown what needs to be done
· With assistance, completes Mill work orders to complete Production needs
· Performs Mill maintenance as needed and maintain records accordingly
· With assistance, performs complex machining operations on CNC Milling machines
· Must have the ability to learn geometric dimensioning and tolerances
· Must be able to learn to read and interpret drawings effectively
· With assistance, will included in determining the best CNC Milling practices as needed
· Must be able to verify conformance of finished work pieces to specification, using precision measuring instruments
· Once set-up, must be able to produce quality parts in a timely manner
· Will conduct precise measurements using tools such as a tape measures, micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.
· Will perform general cleaning, such as sweeping the floor around his/her assigned area, emptying large waste containers, moving/sorting material, etc.
· With assistance, will help with setting-up Mills by installing and adjusting chucks, miscellaneous tools, various attachments, etc., that are necessary to complete CNC Milling processes
· Must have the ability to learn how to program Mills with provided training by entering data, including (but not limited to) zero and reference points, setting tool registers, offsets, etc.
· Must be able to properly use cranes for overhead lifting purposes
· Must abide by safety protocols at all times
· 1-2 years’ experience with CNC machines preferred
· 1-2 years’ experience in the machining industry with a knowledge of fabrication, mechanics, drafting, and other related fields preferred
· Ability to walk and stand on concrete surfaces
· Ability to stand for long periods of time, reaching, lifting, and bending
· Lifting/pushing objects weighing over 50 lbs. on occasion
