Kings Energy Services is currently seeking a talented Machinist to join our team in our Nisku, Alberta branch. This is a permanent full-time position. If you are a motivated team-player we want to hear from you! This position is located in our manufacturing facility in Nisku, Alberta. Office hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.
Kings Energy Services serves the Energy Industry and Industrial sectors Canada-wide specializing in sales, distribution, and service of valves, instrumentation & electrical products. It is also a solutions provider to the Oil and Gas Drilling Sector specializing in recertification, machining, and manufacturing. The machinist is responsible for precision machining of metal components using manual tools such as lathes, mills, and grinders. Duties include interpreting blueprints, calculating dimensions and tolerances, setting up and operating machines, inspecting finished parts, and ensuring compliance with specifications. The role also involves diagnosing equipment issues, maintaining tools and supporting quality and QHSE processes through documentation and reporting.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers).
- Machine parts to specification using manual lathes, mills, and grinders.
- Set up, adjust, and operate manual machining equipment for precision work.
- Inspect finished parts to ensure quality and conformance to specifications.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and engineering data to plan machining operations.
- Select appropriate tools, materials, and methods for each job.
- Align and secure fixtures, tools, and materials on machines.
- Monitor machine feed and speed during operations.
- Diagnose and adjust for machine malfunctions.
- Clean and maintain machines and tools.
- Initiate nonconformance reports when required.
- Support QHSE processes and assist with documentation.
- Minimum of 3 years manual machining experience
- Apprentice: Minimum 3rd or 4th year Apprentice as a machinist required
- Previous Mazak CNC Lathe and Mill experience is an asset
- A valid driver's license and ability to provide a clean driving record
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work within a complex, fast-moving work environment under minimal supervision.
- Previous participation in Safety Program and Quality Assurance Program
- Strong computer skills; MS office suite proficient with an ability to learn new programs
- Strong problem solving, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
- Functional understanding of imperial and metric systems.
- Familiar with reading blueprints, schematics and manuals
- Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.)
- Understanding of properties of metal and other materials
