Provide project management assistance and coordination to facilitate safe, accurate, efficient implementation
- Serves as a job leader interface for contractors and temporary employees, support craft and non-craft personnel
- Possesses the ownership for planning, implementation, startup and long term operation of new equipment and systems, including vendor interface, budget oversight, schedule development and print updates.
- Provides technical support for engineering and operations.
Install new replacement mechanical equipment and related components, while insuring safe and reliable
operation. Develops and manages long term maintenance programs to support equipment including:
- Thermography
- Lubrication
- Ultrasound
Maintain proficiency through continuous learning and regulatory compliance from various agencies to ensure
safety to self, others and equipment. Agencies include, but are not limited to: NFPA, OSHA, EPA and the State
- Identifies and recommends skill specific training enhance knowledge and skills for required safety regulatory processes and/or system technologies as needed by plant ownership areas.
- Participates in training and completes qualifications to support State and Federal requirements.
- Reviews and recommends continuous improvements to maximize implementation and effectiveness of Rainbow Energy Center’s mechanical work practices.

Manage all aspects of existing equipment and process maintenance for assigned plant area while ensuring
- Responsible for backlog management, schedules, priorities, performance, regulatory and environmental compliance of assigned equipment systems.
- Assists in budget preparation, specifically by recommending spare parts inventory and continuous improvements to maximize efficiency and availability.
- Empowered and accountable for maintenance expenditures, personal productivity and ownership of assigned areas to provide professional support to the front line leader, engineering, and operations staff.
An Associate’s degree in precision machine technology or related field and/or equivalent machining
experience is required. Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge and skills needed to perform all aspects of mechanical maintenance in a complex industrial electrical plant, including maintenance management activities for immediate and long term needs.
- Skills and ability to learn, interpret and follow standards, safety procedures, regulatory and environmental compliance practice in support of RECs safety program, environmental management system and Rainbow Energy Centers Mechanical safety program.
- Ability to perform equipment alignments and operate lathes for such things as bearing diameter to a +.0002, -.0001 tolerance. Able to make pump shafts, motor shafts, and other parts to close tolerances.- Ability to provide job direction and project coordination for minor and major process retrofits and new projects.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment and systems and possess strong personal computer literacy for record keeping, use of productivity applications, and computerized equipment interface.
- Must acquire plant specific equipment and process knowledge and demonstrates proficiency.
- Ability to read and interpret vendor and manufacture schematics and instruction manuals, plant procedures and work practices.
- Ability to design and fabricate parts used around plant and for mechanical equipment.
- Required to complete mechanical maintenance apprenticeship within three (3) years of hire date.
- Ability and responsibility to work safely alone and with others while following REC safety rules, certifications and procedures.
- Ability and responsibility to ensure security procedures are followed including immediate notification of potential incidents.

Working conditions will be indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather conditions of extreme cold or heat. Must be able to travel to various locations throughout the plant and facility grounds. Conditions in the plant and facility grounds may include extreme temperatures, noise levels, and heights. There will be overtime, and/or working weekends and infrequent overnight travel.
This position requires the ability to occasionally to frequently sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 20-50 poundsfrequently and bi-lateral carry up to 100 pounds on rare occasion. The ability to climb, balance, work at heights and work with arms above your head occasionally up to frequently. Ability to occasionally up to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist and squat, work on even and uneven surfaces and ability to work occasionally in confined space areas. Ability to frequently push, pull, carry, grasp and finger objects. Subject to frequent vibration and hazards and on occasion exposed to fumes, dust or mist. Must wear protective equipment when required. Must be able to differentiate colors, have vision ability to encompass close-up and distant work, and the ability to speak and hear.
Schedules shall be any combination of eight, ten or twelve hour shifts and includes days, afternoons, nights weekends and holidays.
