The machine shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations at MASS Precision. This role includes managing a team ensuring production schedules are met, maintaining quality standards, and implementing safety procedures. The supervisor must have extensive knowledge of all machining processes, materials, and equipment.
- Manage and lead a team of machinists.
- Assign tasks and oversee the daily activities of the team.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and safety protocols.
- Provide training and mentorship to team members.
- Plan and schedule production runs to meet deadlines and customer specifications.
- Monitor workflow and adjust schedules as necessary to optimize efficiency.
- Ensure all products meet quality standards and specifications.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth production processes.
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Implement and maintain quality control processes and procedures.
- Address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
- Enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
- Address any safety concerns promptly and effectively.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of fabrication equipment and tools.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
- Identify and recommend new equipment and tools to improve efficiency and quality.
- Identify areas for improvement in the fabrication process.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in sheet metal fabrication.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years experience working as a machinist, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of machining including but not limited to. Turning, milling 3-5 axis, mill turn, screw machine, EDM, grinding, stamping, fixturing, inspection.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in using fabrication equipment and tools.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
