LUBRICATION TECHNICIAN

The Millwright, Lubrification Technician will be responsible for the management of most lubrification activities in the mill including greasing, lubrification handling/storage, contamination control, oil change and sampling. The Lubrification Technician will collaborate with the team to deliver execution of the integrated plan and schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Area 1:

Maintains the lubrification program, manage the lubricant inventory and lubrication equipment.

- Own and manage the lubrification routes.

- Ensure all equipment is lubricated to meet NGLI standards/ OEM specifications.

- Conduct oil sampling, documenting results and check for metal fragments, moisture content and other contaminants.

- Maintain all gearbox, lubrification and hydraulic units to operating levels.

- Maintain cleanliness ISO standards for all lubrification, hydraulic units and the oil depot.

- Manage an inventory of filters and repairs consumables.

- Maintain auto lubrication lines, including plumping and inspection for damaged or leaking fittings.

- Maintain oil coolers, heaters, exchanger, hydraulic pumps, valves, etc.

- Manage the kidney lube units with their consumables.

- Using the CMMS for writing work orders.

Area 2:

Safely installs, maintains, troubleshoots, overhauls and repairs stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment throughout the mine and milling operation.

- Read manufacturer manuals, blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.

- Install, align, dismantle, overhaul, and move stationary industrial machinery, component, and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, agitators, conveyors, furnaces, samplers, and generators according to layout plans and manuals.

- Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as bridge overhead cranes, jacks and telehandlers to position machinery and components during the installation, set-up, and repair of machinery.

- Inspect and examine tools, machinery, and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.

- Troubleshoot and maintain production machinery, power transmissions, belt conveyors, compressors, vacuums, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and programmable logic controls.

- Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.

- Clean, inspect, get temperature readings, lubricate, and perform other routine or preventative maintenance work on machinery.

- Replace wear liners in chute, mills, crusher and feeders.

- Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.

- Keep training certification up to date and operate equipment you have been trained on safely.

- Ensure all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety standards.

- Use and populate CMMS software to create work requests, track comments, order material, and enter time spent on tasks.

- Actively participate in job safety analysis to contribute to a safer work environment.

- Clean the work environment, workshop, and dispose of hazardous material according to applicable policies and legislations.

Area 3:

Operational excellence.

- Commit to continuous learning and improvement.

- Continually seek to improve your skills as a Millwright.

- Watch for inefficiencies or problems.

- Ensure problems and inefficiencies are shared with others.

- Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve problems.

- Consider risk along the five dimensions (throughput, time, quality, sustainability and cost)

Area 4:

Work collaboratively with others to deliver operational reliability.

- Coordinate with other team members on site to meet shift deliverables.

- Mentor and train new team members.

- Participate in and lend your expertise to the team.

- Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.

- Ensure equipment logs and shift logs are accurate and complete.

- Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow up.

- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves

minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents

- College diploma in industrial mechanic (millwright) or another related field is considered an asset.

- Ontario Provincial or Inter-Provincial Industrial Mechanic Millwright License is an asset.

Work experience - Nature & Length

- A minimum of 5 years of related work experience.

- Previous experience in open pit mining or mineral processing (specifically gold processing) is considered an asset.

- Level 1 Machinery Lubricant Technician or higher is required.

- Condition monitoring experience is considered an asset.

Additional qualifications - Competency requirements

- Proficiency in computer applications and maintenance software.

- A valid Ontario driver’s license is required.

- Ability to communicate effectively.

- Ability to work independently and in team settings.

- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
