Location: Franklin, MA Reports To: VP of Manufacturing

Overview

Pierce Aluminum is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Logistics Coordinator to support our growing operations in aluminum distribution and fabrication. This role is central to ensuring timely deliveries, optimized routing, and coordination across our warehouses, vendors, and customers. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys balancing analytical planning with daily tactical problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

- Shipment Planning & Execution

- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, including LTL and truckload deliveries

- Collaborate with internal teams to align logistics with production schedules

- Schedule pickups and deliveries with carriers and customers

- Carrier & Vendor Management

- Maintain relationships with transportation providers to ensure reliable service

- Negotiate freight rates and track service performance

- Support freight claims and service recovery processes

- Inventory & Documentation

- Ensure accurate documentation including BOLs, customs paperwork, and packing lists

- Operational Problem-Solving

- Resolve delays, bottlenecks, and exceptions across the shipping network

- Escalate issues to the appropriate internal departments for resolution

- Continuously identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency and delivery performance

- Cross-Functional Communication

- Coordinate with sales, and manufacturing teams to align logistics priorities

- Provide timely updates on shipment statuses, delays, and ETAs

- Contribute to logistics reporting for internal and customer-facing metrics

Qualifications

- 2–4 years of experience in logistics coordination, preferably in manufacturing or distribution

- Familiarity with ERP systems and shipping platforms (UPS/FedEx/LTL portals)

- Strong communication and negotiation skills

- Solid understanding of domestic freight and warehouse operations

- Ability to multitask and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment

Bonus Skills

- Experience with aluminum, metals, or industrial materials logistics

- Basic understanding of lean supply chain principles

- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and freight compliance regulations

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
