Laser Operator

POSITION TITLE: LASER OPERATOR (Wrico WI)

I. GENERAL INFORMATION:

Department: Press Room

Location: Shop

Position Status: Non-exempt

Position reports to: Production Supervisor

Positions supervised: None

II. POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Operates Mazak Laser, including loading material, parts removal, and minor trouble shooting.

III. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (essential and other functions):

1. Setup and operation of Mazak Lasers, up to 2500 KHZ.

2. Able to adjust setting for different operations.

3. Accurately adjusts power settings for a variety of metals, including cold roll, stainless steel, and aluminum for FMS system.

4. Read and understand blueprints, and is capable of conducting layout review. (ie: checking hole size or inspection)

5. Understands job cards, micrometer, scale, and dial calipers.

6. Performs required maintenance on machine, when needed.

7. Notify supervisor immediately of problems, concerns, or questions.

8. Comply with all Company policies.

9. Keep work area clean & free of hazards.

10. Performs operator-level safety activities.

11. Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

IV. REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Knowledge:

High School diploma or equivalent.

OEM training course preferred.

CNC programming knowledge, helpful.

2. Experience:

One year laser experience required.

3. Ability/skills

Able to lift 75 pounds and perform repeated bending and twisting.

High mechanical aptitude, self-motivated, takes initiative.

Ability to read English as required for interpreting job cards and prints.

Able and willing to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Safety and quality minded.

Team player; works with others to solve problems and helps others when assistance is needed.

V. WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Fast paced, job shop and fabrication business.

2. Some heavy lifting required.

3. Ever changing priorities.

4. Possible overtime.

5. PPE required.

6. Noise, dust, dirt, heat, cold in winter environment.

VI. LEVEL

1. Works under minimal supervision.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
