What We Do

We are an expense management firm which means we work with clients to devise strategies and solutions that will help contain, lower and/or optimize their expenses within 3 main areas:

1. Utilities – electricity and natural gas including retail contract procurement, delivery charge reviews and energy efficiency reviews.

2. Credit card processing – providing POS solutions that offer businesses state of the art features at a price that is fair and reasonable.

3. Cell phone management – using our pooled data management approach, we provide affordable cell phone plans for businesses and personal use.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Director of Finance & Analytics and working directly under the Energy Efficiency Manager, the Junior Energy Auditor will support the development and execution of energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives for our clients. This role sits at the intersection of building systems, data analysis, and financial evaluation. The successful candidate will develop both technical building knowledge and the financial acumen required to evaluate capital projects, incentives, and long-term energy strategies.

This role is ideal for a technically minded, analytical individual who enjoys working with data, buildings, systems and real-world problem solving. The Junior Energy Auditor will assist in conducting energy audits, analyzing utility data, building financial models, developing reporting templates, and coordinating with vendors and project partners.

You will play a key role in helping clients understand their energy usage, identify savings opportunities, and evaluate the financial viability of efficiency and energy production projects. This is a growth-oriented role with increasing responsibility as technical competency and industry knowledge develop.


Responsibilities will include

Assisting in the completion of ASHRAE Level I and Level II energy audits, including:

- Conducting site visits to collect information on building systems (HVAC, lighting, building envelope, controls, etc.)

- Gathering utility data and historical consumption information

- Interviewing site personnel to understand operational practices

- Supporting feasibility analysis and savings calculations

- Comfortable working in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and active commercial buildings during site visits.


Supporting energy data analysis and reporting:

- Analyzing electricity and natural gas consumption trends

- Developing energy performance metrics and benchmarking reports

- Assisting in calculating energy savings, cost savings, and carbon reduction impacts

- Building and maintaining Excel-based financial models and business case analyses

Developing and improving internal tools and processes:

- Creating new templates, reporting structures, and standardized audit documentation

- Improving data collection workflows and internal modeling tools

- Supporting the development of repeatable processes for energy efficiency services


Supporting project evaluation and implementation:

- Supporting preliminary assessment of solar, CHP, and other energy production opportunities (with increasing responsibility as experience develops)

- Researching available grants, incentives, and financing programs

- Coordinating with external vendors, contractors, engineers, and suppliers

- Helping track approved projects through implementation stages

Supporting internal growth of the energy efficiency practice:

- Conducting research on legislation, carbon markets, and industry best practices

- Assisting with internal knowledge development and documentation

- Participating in client meetings alongside senior team members

Taking on special projects, research assignments, and analytical work as required


Key Skills and Qualifications

- Legally able to work in Canada

- Post-secondary education in engineering, energy management, environmental sciences, or a related field is preferred

- 0–3 years of experience in energy analysis, building systems, sustainability, utilities, engineering support, or related fields


Technical & Analytical Skills:

- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including building structured financial models, using pivot tables, logical formulas, and organizing large datasets in a clear, repeatable format.

- High level of comfort working with large datasets and performing quantitative analysis.

- Ability to interpret utility invoices and consumption data.

- Familiarity with building systems (HVAC, lighting, mechanical systems) is an asset.

- Exposure to energy modeling software or energy assessment tools is an asset but not required.

- Strong written communication skills with the ability to translate technical findings into clear client-facing reports.

- Analytical mindset with curiosity and a problem-solving orientation.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

- Comfortable working independently while also collaborating with senior team members.

- Willingness to conduct site visits (local travel required).

- Desire to build a long-term career in energy, sustainability, and financial analysis.


Bonus (Not Required):

- EIT designation or progress toward professional engineering accreditation.

- Familiarity with ASHRAE audit standards.

- Experience with solar, CHP, carbon accounting, or grant applications.

Salary


$50,000 - $60,000 annually
