The Opportunity
South Bow is seeking a motivated IT & Corporate Optimization Summer Student enrolled in a post secondary technology or business program. This four month placement offers hands on experience supporting Information Technology services and corporate process improvement, with exposure to systems, documentation, analysis, and workflow optimization.
You will work with IT professionals and business stakeholders to improve how employees interact with technology and operational processes across the organization.
What You Will Do
As an IT & Corporate Optimization Summer Student, you will support a broad range of activities across technology and business operations, including:
- Contributing to real IT and business initiatives by supporting assigned tasks and operational activities across IT and Corporate Optimization, with clear objectives, guidance, and measurable outcomes.
- Working alongside cross functional teams (IT, Finance, Operations, and Corporate Services) to support continuous improvement efforts—gaining exposure to how technology and business processes work together in a large organization.
- Creating and maintaining practical documentation including process guides, workflows, knowledge articles, and standard operating procedures that are used by teams to improve consistency, onboarding, and service quality.
- Supporting process analysis and improvement by helping document current state workflows, identifying pain points or inefficiencies, and contributing ideas and inputs to future state process designs.
- Participating in structured troubleshooting and issue resolution, following documented procedures, learning root cause thinking, and escalating issues appropriately—building foundational problem solving skills.
- Analyzing feedback and operational data (e.g., user input, service trends, or process performance indicators) to help identify opportunities to improve IT services or business processes.
- Preparing clear, professional materials for project documentation, status reporting, and team updates—developing strong written communication skills and exposure to project delivery practices.
- Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary program in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Operations Management, Software Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Foundational understanding of general IT concepts and basic business processes.
- Strong communication, documentation, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn new systems, tools, and optimization methods.
- Real‑world exposure to Information Technology operations and business process optimization.
- Experience contributing to meaningful projects that enhance how South Bow works.
- Mentorship from IT, corporate operations, and cross‑functional business professionals.
- Opportunities to develop practical skills in documentation, systems, analysis, and continuous improvement.
