The IT Business Analysis Student Intern will gain hands-on experience with enterprise IT projects and the system development life cycle (SDLC). Under the guidance of experienced IT Business Analysts, the intern will assist with business requirements documentation, business process analysis, and related project activities for in-house development, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), and system enhancement initiatives.
This internship is designed to provide practical exposure to business analysis methodologies, tools, and best practices, while helping the intern develop analytical, documentation, and communication skills applicable to a future career in business analysis, systems analysis, or IT project delivery.
Under supervision, the IT Business Analysis, the student intern will perform the following essential functions:
- Assist with eliciting, documenting, and organizing business and functional requirements
- Support the development of requirements specifications, use cases, user stories, and supporting documentation
- Assist in documenting As-Is and To-Be business processes, including process flows and diagrams
- Review business and technical documentation for clarity, completeness, and adherence to quality standards
- Support requirements traceability, validation, and change documentation activities
- Assist IT Business Analysts during stakeholder meetings, requirements workshops, and project intake or scoping sessions
- Help organize, maintain, and archive business analysis documentation in designated repositories
- Assist with basic analysis of operational or project data to support process and system understanding
- Support preparation of materials for design, development, and testing phases of projects
- Learn and apply foundational business analysis concepts, SDLC practices, and enterprise IT standardsPerform other related duties in support of the IT Business Analysis function, as assigned
Completed 1+ year coursework in an IT discipline
Actively enrolled in a college or university pursuing an IT-related discipline
