As a Hydrostatic Testing Technician, you will work with a safety-first team to support hydrostatic pressure testing on natural gas pipelines and related infrastructure. This role is responsible for executing field pressure tests to verify the safety, integrity, and compliance of pipeline systems in accordance with industry standards.
- Prepare and assemble hydrostatic testing equipment, ensuring all components meet required specifications and safety standards
- Execute hydrostatic tests on pipelines, pressure vessels, and related systems following established procedures
- Monitor and record pressure readings, leak detection results, and test data during testing operations
- Maintain accurate test documentation and reports in accordance with industry and regulatory standards
- Interpret schematics and technical drawings to ensure proper test setup and configuration
- Communicate effectively with field crews, inspectors, and supervisors throughout testing operations
- Maintain a strong commitment to job site safety and operational excellence
- Actively participates in JSA and uses all necessary steps to complete tasks safely and ensures the safety of others working in the area.
- Communicates with all levels of management and crew to effectively present any needs and changes.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Experience working with pipeline pressure testing, mechanical connections, and test documentation, and be capable of operating independently while maintaining a strong focus on safety and accuracy.
- Strong understanding of pressure testing procedures and equipment
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Proficiency using Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel and Word, for documentation and reporting
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly relay information to team members and inspectors
- Ability to work independently in field environments
- Ability to adhere to a written method or procedure.
- Confidence to STOP work immediately when a problem is identified.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical documents, preferred.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite of products, preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- High school Degree or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in pipeline maintenance. - 3+ years of experience performing pressure testing on pipeline systems.- Current Driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Must have excellent depth perception, hearing, and manual dexterity to operate all machines safely.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
- The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions in extreme temperatures and weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
- Must meet minimum company requirements to operate a company vehicle and be eligible for coverage under Company insurance program.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Must be able to travel up to 85% of the time.
- This position may require overtime/weekend/off-hours.
- Minimal travel is required, but may be expected to travel to office or project site, sometimes with short notice.
