Cavvy Energy is seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Instrumentation Technicianto support both plant and field operations. Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Foreman, this dynamic role plays a key part in maintaining safe, efficient, and compliant operations by delivering high-quality instrumentation support.
The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise across a broad range of instrumentation equipment, including the calibration and maintenance of transmitters, meters, vibration sensors, and related systems. Equally important is a proactive attitude, a commitment to continuous learning, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment.
- Execute corrective and preventative maintenance work orders through the Cavvy maintenance program.
- Assess, document, plan, and repair a wide range of instrumentation equipment.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for operations.
- Support optimization of predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
- Contribute to equipment reliability and operational efficiency improvements.
- Assist with root cause analysis of equipment failures and recommend solutions.
- Provide input for capital projects and new equipment installations.
- Develop repair scopes for outages, turnarounds, and major maintenance events.
- Demonstrate visible leadership in all safety programs and lead by example.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, safety standards, and provincial regulations are being followed.
- Report incidents and participate in investigations.
- Follow Management of Change (MOC) processes for equipment modifications.
- Participate in daily and monthly safety meetings.
- Collaborate across teams to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
- Maintain positive working relationships with team members and stakeholders.
- Partner with vendors and contractors to resolve technical issues and improve performance.
- Monitor contractor performance and spending.
- Support strong relationships with regulatory bodies, communities, and Indigenous groups.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste and support continuous improvement (LEAN principles).
- Contribute to achieving asset business plans and performance targets.
- Continuously developing technical skills and competencies.
- Work outdoors in varied and sometimes adverse conditions.
- Travel to remote field locations as required.
- Participate in overtime, weekend, and after-hours coverage.
- Journeyman Instrumentation Technician (Red Seal preferred).
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience specializing in instrumentation equipment, operation, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of provincial and international design codes, standards, and their application to instrumentation equipment.
- Familiarity with AER Directive 017, CEMS codes, and associated documentation requirements is an asset.
- Experience with instrumentation and control systems such as Allen-Bradley, Honeywell, Ametek, Fisher, and Rosemount is considered an asset.
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g., H2S Alive, Fall Protection, First Aid, TDG) are considered assets.
- Valid and clean Class 5 Driver’s License required.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with operations and engineering teams.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team.
- Working knowledge of investigative processes and tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Root Cause Analysis, LEAN principles).
- Basic understanding of facility processes including sulphur recovery, gas treating, hydrocarbon fractionation, and water treatment.
- Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
- Familiarity with safety standards for high-pressure sour gas facilities.
- Ability to safely perform work in sour environments, including use of respiratory protective equipment
- Comfortable working at heights (up to 150 ft).
- Awareness of Emergency Response Procedures and Incident Command System (ICS), with ability to support as required.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada, sponsorship is not available for this role.
- Willingness to relocate and reside in the Pincher Creek area.
- Able to travel and work in field environments as required.
