We are seeking an Entry-Level Water Sampling Technician to support our water and wastewater operations by collecting routine compliance samples in accordance with California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) and EPA regulations. This position is ideal for someone looking to begin a career in the water/wastewater field.
- Collect water and wastewater samples from designated field locations
- Follow established sampling procedures and regulatory requirements
- Label, preserve, and transport samples to certified laboratories
- Complete required sampling logs, chain-of-custody forms, and basic reports
- Perform basic field testing (e.g., chlorine residuals, pH, turbidity) as assigned
- Maintain sampling equipment and follow all safety procedures
- Communicate sampling issues or irregularities to supervisors
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid California driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and work independently
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks
- Coursework or interest in water/wastewater operations or environmental sciences
- Any water-related certification (not required)
- Ability to obtain required California water sampling and/or operator certifications within a specified timeframe
- Field-based position; may require early mornings, occasional weekends, or holidays based on sampling schedules
