This position will be responsible for cleaning and preparing the trough to maintain an adequate supply of molten metal in the machine ladle; to pour molten metal from treating ladles into transfer ladles and relieve oven charger in accordance with scheduled relief breaks.
- Ensure that slag is cleaned from molten metal in the machine ladle and prevented from flowing off the machine ladle with molten metal during casting process.
- Perform relief duties trough man, oven charger, and ladle car operator.
- Charge pipe in the annealing oven; operate casting machine to produce good quality pipe; assist casting machine operator with set-up for cast cycle and with other duties related to casting of large diameter pipe.
- Maintaining dry spray and blackening levels.
- Maintaining alloy levels for the large diameter and transfer ladles.
- Provide relief for iron pourers as needed as well as perform trough man duties, if needed.
- Maintain water cooler levels.
- Operate fork truck for various lifts as required as well as operate scrap truck as needed.
- Line and repair linings for ladles, trough chutes, ducks nest, stirrer beams, stirrer beam covers and burner top covers.
- Produce good quality cores for the large diameter pipe casting process, coat cores with blacking mixture; visually inspect cores for defects and maintain a proper mixture.
- Load finished cores into baskets; operate light forklift to deliver baskets of cores to the casting machines in casting department and furnish core pick-off operators with empty baskets and place full core baskets in stock.
- Assist with the core tooling cleaning operations in small diameter and large diameter core rooms; perform as well as general clean-up duties in the core rooms.
- Set up and operate machine to produce cores; visually inspect cores for defects, remove fins from core surface when present and record core production and delays per hour and per shift on standard forms.
- High school diploma or GED required
- Some Production experience preferred.
- Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
