Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Calgary for an experienced Honeywell Experion Engineer / Specialist. The role focuses on the design, configuration, implementation, commissioning, and support of Honeywell Experion Distributed Control Systems for oil and gas facilities.

You will work on both MOC and Capital Projects, collaborating with internal engineering teams, clients, and vendors, and providing hands-on support through commissioning and startup activities at client sites in Canada and the United States.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, configure, and maintain Honeywell Experion DCS systems

- Develop control strategies, interlocks, shutdown logic, and alarm management

- Prepare Control Narratives, Functional Design Specifications (FDS), and Cause & Effect documentation

- Perform FAT, SAT, on-site commissioning, and startup support

- Troubleshoot control logic, system, and network issues

- Optimize system and control loop performance

- Support system integration with instrumentation, PLCs, HMIs, and SIS

- Maintain accurate technical documentation and configuration records

Technical Skills

- Honeywell Experion PKS (Control Builder, Console Builder, Engineering Station)

- System architecture design including servers, controllers, redundancy, and I/O

- Alarm management (ISA-18.2 / EEMUA 191)

- PID tuning (cascade, feedforward, ratio, split-range)

- OPC / OPC UA, Modbus TCP, Profibus, HART

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, or related Engineering discipline

- 3+ years of hands-on Honeywell Experion experience

- Strong understanding of instrumentation and process control concepts

- Experience supporting industrial facilities during commissioning and operations

- Oil and gas experience preferred

- Ability to travel within Canada and the United States
