The Heavy Equipment Lube Technician performs scheduled preventative maintenance and fluid services on large mining equipment across multiple active mine sites. This role works out of a company lube truck and supports field mechanics during major repairs and component changeouts.
Work begins each day at the RES preparation plant in Clearfield, with travel to active mine sites in Clearfield, Cambria, Centre, Blair, and Armstrong Counties.
Depending on service level and workload, lube technicians may work independently or in a two-person team. Higher-level services and major fluid work are often completed as a team, while routine services are typically completed independently.
- Perform Level 1–4 preventative maintenance services on mining equipment
- Complete scheduled oil and filter changes on major components
- Maintain and operate assigned lube/service truck
- Assist field mechanics during major component changeouts
– Drain and refill compartments
– Handle fluids and filters
– Assist with service support tasks
- Collect, label, and submit oil samples
- Maintain filter and fluid inventory on lube truck
- Complete service documentation and recordkeeping
- Steam clean equipment when required
- Assist around mine sites and preparation plant as needed
This role is critical to maintaining equipment reliability and minimizing downtime.

- $25–$32 per hour depending on experience
- Full-time, year-round employment
- Typical 50-hour workweeks

- Occasional extended shifts or Saturday work as required
- Home daily

Lube trucks remain company-based — technicians report to the plant daily.
- Heavy equipment, diesel, or industrial equipment experience
- Class B CDL with tanker endorsement required
- Ability to work safely and independently in active mine environments
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal safety procedures in English
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Surface mining or quarry experience
- Previous lube/service truck experience
- MSHA certification
- Mechanical aptitude and interest in advancing within maintenance
- Work performed in mine and plant environments
- Exposure to varying weather and industrial conditions
- Required use of PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear
