Reporting directly to the Mining Supervisor, the Mine Truck Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment for construction and quarrying purposes at the Eskay Creek Mine site.
- Safely operate Komatsu HD1500 and similar rigid frame haul trucks to transport ore, waste, aggregates, and overburden.
- Maintain smooth, controlled operation while following haul road speeds, braking, cornering, and traffic rules.
- Perform thorough walk‑around inspections including fluids, tires, lights, body hoist, braking systems, and overall mechanical condition.
- Report defects immediately through approved maintenance systems.
- Accurately position under shovels, excavators, and loaders using spotter guidance or radio communication.
- Dump safely at designated tip points, stockpiles, and crushers while maintaining awareness of berms, edges, and ground conditions.
- Follow all mine safety policies, Traffic Management Plans, hazard controls, and radio protocols.
- Participate in FLRAs, toolbox meetings, and incident reporting.
- Maintain equipment control in poor visibility, soft ground, and changing weather.
- Maintain consistent haul cycles while avoiding delays or equipment abuse.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and other operators to support efficient operations.
- Follow environmental procedures including dust control, spill response, and fuel conservation.
- Operate equipment to prevent contamination, emissions, and infrastructure damage.
- Use proper two‑way radio protocols on haul roads and pit operations.
- Work safely with ground personnel, spotters, mechanics, and contractors.- Perform all other duties as reasonably assigned.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience operating rigid frame haul trucks in a mining or heavy civil environment (Komatsu HD1500 experience considered an asset).
- Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to perform pre shift inspections, follow safe loading/dumping procedures, and operate large equipment in variable ground and weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to promoting and maintaining strong Health and Safety Culture.
- Experience or demonstrated capability to work in a complex environment.
- Experience working in a remote mining or industrial environment is required.
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision.

Work Location & Conditions
This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.
The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena’s Travel Policy.
There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
The expected hourly rate for this position is CAD $40 in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
