Who We Are

For over a century, northeast Indiana has been home to a hardworking farming community built on integrity, resilience, and family values. These same principles remain at the heart of Ag Plus today.

What started as a modest group of farmers has grown into a thriving cooperative with over 1,400 members, serving communities across eleven counties. Despite our growth, we remain locally owned and operated—not by a distant boardroom, but by the farmers we proudly serve.

Ag Plus is open to everyone in northeastern Indiana—no memberships, no annual fees. Our success stays within the local markets we serve, benefiting our communities time and time again.

Our Services

To best support our members, Ag Plus operates across five key divisions:

- Agronomy – Precision Ag, crop nutrients, protection, and seed solutions

- Energy – Reliable liquid fuels and LP gas services

- Feed – Quality bagged and bulk feed options

- Grain – Comprehensive grain services, including trucking

- Turf – A full line of turf products with expert advice

At Ag Plus, we remain committed to delivering value, fostering growth, and serving our communities for generations to come.

About the Role:

The Grain Truck Driver plays a critical role in the agricultural supply chain by safely and efficiently transporting grain from farms to storage facilities, processing plants, or distribution centers. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, punctuality, and vehicle maintenance to ensure timely delivery and prevent product loss or damage. The driver must navigate various routes, often in rural or challenging environments, while adhering to all transportation regulations and company policies. Effective communication with dispatchers, farm personnel, and facility operators is essential to coordinate pickups and deliveries smoothly. Ultimately, this role supports the agricultural industry by ensuring that harvested grain reaches its next destination in optimal condition, contributing to the overall success of the food production process.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A with a clean driving record.

- Proven experience operating heavy-duty trucks, preferably in agricultural or bulk commodity transport.

- Knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations, including hours-of-service rules.

- Ability to perform physical tasks related to loading and unloading grain.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with grain handling equipment and familiarity with agricultural supply chain operations.

- Basic mechanical skills for minor truck maintenance and troubleshooting.

- Good communication skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Flexibility to work varying schedules, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends during peak harvest seasons.

- Previous experience in rural or off-road driving conditions.

Responsibilities:

- Operate commercial grain trucks to transport grain from farms or Ag Plus facilities to designated storage or processing locations.

- Inspect vehicles before and after trips to ensure mechanical safety and report any maintenance needs promptly.

- Load and unload grain safely, verifying quantities and securing loads to prevent spillage during transit.

- Follow efficient routes while complying with all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.

- Maintain accurate delivery logs, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery times.

- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, farm operators, and facility staff to coordinate schedules and resolve any issues.

- Adhere to all safety protocols to protect self, cargo, and the public during transportation.

Skills:

The required Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A is essential for legally and safely operating large grain trucks, ensuring compliance with transportation laws. Daily, the driver uses navigation and route-planning skills to optimize delivery times while managing fuel efficiency and vehicle wear. Attention to detail is critical when inspecting vehicles and securing loads to prevent accidents or product loss. Preferred skills such as mechanical aptitude allow the driver to identify and address minor vehicle issues promptly, minimizing downtime. Strong communication skills facilitate coordination with dispatch and farm personnel, ensuring smooth operations and timely deliveries throughout the agricultural supply chain.

Outside of harvest and agronomy seasons, grain truck drivers typically average 50+ hours per week. During harvest, hours are highly dependent on weather and may extend to 7 days a week with 12–15 hour days. If assisting the Agronomy Department, hours may vary based on seasonal demand and workload.
