Job Overview

Job Overview The Forklift Driver / Yard Worker plays a critical role in supporting safe, efficient, and organized yard and warehouse operations. This position is responsible for the operation of forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move, load, unload, and store materials while maintaining a clean and well-organized yard. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Forklift & Equipment Operation

· Safely operate forklifts to transport materials within the yard and warehouse

· Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers while ensuring materials are properly secured

· Stack, stage, and organize materials according to company standards and job requirements

· Conduct pre-shift and post-shift inspections of forklifts and equipment

· Report mechanical issues, safety concerns, or needed repairs immediately

Yard & Warehouse Operations

· Maintain proper yard organization, material labeling, and designated storage areas

· Assist with receiving, staging, and shipping of materials

· Perform basic inventory tracking, cycle counts, and material verification

· Ensure materials are protected from damage, weather exposure, and loss

· Assist with general yard labor including sweeping, debris removal, and site upkeep

Safety & Compliance

· Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific procedures

· Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times

· Identify and report unsafe conditions or behaviors

· Participate in safety meetings, training, and toolbox talks

· Support accident prevention and incident reporting procedures

Team Support & Communication

· Communicate effectively with supervisors/Managers, drivers, and team members regarding material needs and yard activity

· Assist other departments as needed to meet operational deadlines

· Follow verbal and written instructions accurately

· Maintain a professional and respectful attitude in all interactions

Qualifications & Experience

· High school diploma or GED (Preferred)

· 5+ year of forklift, yard, warehouse, Loading/Unloading experience (Preferred)

· Familiarity with inventory systems, material handling, or logistics (Preferred)

· OSHA 10 (Preferred).

· Forklift certification (Required)

· Computer skills (Required).

· Basic math and recordkeeping skills (Required).

· Ability to read and understand safety instructions and work orders (Required).

Physical & Work Requirements

· Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. regularly

· Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and operate equipment for extended periods

· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind)

· Ability to work around heavy machinery and moving equipment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
