Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller (CPA preferred) to lead the financial operations of our growing construction, real estate, and development firm. The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires a strong understanding of financial concepts, effective cash management, and the ability to analyze financial data to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
•Oversee full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting processes for multiple entities and projects.
•Manage cash flow, forecasting, job costing, and cost control for construction projects.
•Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
•Oversee account reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
•Conduct general ledger reconciliation and maintain accurate records of all transactions.
•Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry-specific reporting standards.
•Lead audits, tax preparation, and interface with external auditors and financial institutions.
•Supervise and support the accounting team, promoting best practices in internal controls and workflow efficiency.
•Collaborate with project managers and executive leadership on financial planning and strategic decision-making.
•Manage AIA billing, subcontractor payments, lien waivers, and construction-specific financial documentation.
Qualifications
•CPA designation (preferred) with a degree in Accounting or Finance.
•Minimum 5–7 years of experience in a senior accounting role, ideally in construction, development, or real estate.
•Strong knowledge of job costing and construction billing (AIA forms).
•Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, QuickBooks, Viewpoint, or similar).
•Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
•Strong knowledge of account reconciliation, general ledger reconciliation, and account analysis.
•Excellent understanding of financial concepts, cash management techniques, and forecasting methods.
•Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
•Excellent communication skills to convey complex financial information clearly.
