This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in the field and enjoys supporting technicians, projects, and clients directly. As Field Supervisor, you’ll be the “eyes and ears” on site—helping keep projects on track, ensuring quality and compliance, and supporting both technicians and project teams. You’ll play a key role in improving efficiency, reducing rework, and strengthening field operations across multiple locations.
- Provide full-time, in-field supervision of technicians, including those working in other cities as required
- Supervise commissioning, verification, and inspection of water, electricity, and thermal energy meters in accordance with VIP’s QMS and Measurement Canada requirements
- Support project execution by monitoring progress, timelines, expenses, and adherence to budget expectations
- Ensure field operations meet expected timelines and productivity targets
- Perform technician reviews and participate in all technician evaluations
- Support overall workforce management, including adherence to hours of work and field scheduling expectations
- Work closely with the Metering Solutions Specialist and Technical Specialist to identify and address training needs (in-field or during scheduled training meetings)
- Provide day-to-day field operational support and troubleshooting
- Act as on-site support for Project Managers, including site readiness checks and coordination
- Coordinate and perform site deliveries for technicians to reduce travel time and costs
- Participate in quality audits alongside Project Managers or Technical Specialists
- Maintain compliance with safety and quality standards through regular inspections, audits, and incident investigations
- Serve as a primary client contact in the field, addressing concerns, supporting customer satisfaction, and identifying potential sales or upsell opportunities
- Maintain accurate records of field activities, progress updates, and key performance metrics
- Proven experience supervising or leading field teams in metering, utilities, electrical, or technical services
- Strong working knowledge of field operations, commissioning, inspections, and quality standards
- Familiarity with Measurement Canada requirements and Quality Management Systems (or willingness to learn)
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to coach, support, and hold technicians accountable
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Comfort working closely with project managers, technical specialists, and sales teams
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Valid driver’s licence with clean driver’s abstract and ability to travel between sites as required
