The Field Safety Coach plays a key role in supporting our clients’ day-to-day safety needs in both urban and remote field environments. This role involves working directly with field crews and supervisors to promote safe work practices, conduct inspections, facilitate safety meetings, and support compliance with site-specific safety requirements. The ideal candidate is adaptable, proactive, and confident, working independently while representing SFTY Ltd. on client worksites.
· Conduct on-site safety inspections and audits, identifying hazards and recommending corrective actions.
· Lead or assist with incident investigations and follow-up reporting.
· Facilitate toolbox talks, tailgate meetings, and formal safety meetings.
· Complete and support clients with Formal Hazard Assessments and control development.
· Provide real-time coaching and mentorship to workers and supervisors on safe work practices.
· Review and verify worker competency, certifications, and field-level documentation.
· Support the implementation and maintenance of safety management systems (SMS).
· Document all activities using company templates, digital forms, or client-specific platforms.
· Use and support clients with online safety systems, such as SiteDocs, or equivalent platforms.
· Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, company policies, and client-specific requirements.
· Travel to and from job sites as needed (both within Calgary and throughout Alberta or Western Canada).
· Minimum 4 years of field-level health and safety experience in construction, oil & gas, or industrial environments.
· Certified Health and Safety designation (e.g., NCSO, CRSP, or equivalent) preferred.
· Strong working knowledge of Alberta OHS legislation and industry best practices.
· Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract.
· Comfortable with travel and overnight stays for out-of-town projects.
· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and lead by example.
· Proficient in hazard identification, documentation, and incident investigation processes.
· Comfortable using digital tools and online safety management platforms.
· Experience with a variety of online safety platforms (e.g., SiteDocs, SafetySync, Cority, etc.).
· Additional safety certifications such as First Aid, Fall Protection, Confined Space, etc.
· Experience supporting COR/SECOR audits or internal inspections.
· Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement for travel.
