About This Job

We’re seeking a Field Safety Manager who is passionate about proactive safety leadership in the utility construction industry. This is not a desk job — we want someone engaged, active, and present in the field, working alongside crews to ensure safety is embedded in the daily work culture. This position plays a crucial role in accident prevention, investigation, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. The right candidate will be a team player, working collaboratively to help projects succeed, not enforcing compliance from a distance. LOCATION: Our immediate need is for a solar project located in Byron, NY, with ongoing travel to support other projects across the U.S.

SALARY: $50-$55/hr

PER DIEM: $178/day (paid 7 days/week)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•

Develops, implements, and ensures compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulations (OSHA, DOT, etc.).

•

Serve as the primary safety resource on-site, leading by example and maintaining a visible field presence.

•

Engage daily with personnel, foremen, and project teams to reinforce a positive, proactive safety culture.

•

Leads safety training programs for employees, including orientations, tailgate meetings, and certification programs.

•

Conducts regular safety inspections of work sites, equipment, and vehicles to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance. Support field teams with safety planning, including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), pre-task planning, and equipment reviews.

Investigate incidents and near-misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.

•

Collaborate with project management and field leadership to integrate safety into work planning and execution.

•

Maintains safety records, including accident reports, inspection reports, and training documentation.

•

Travel regularly to various project locations nationwide as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

•

3+ years of field safety experience in the utility or heavy civil construction industry.

•

Demonstrated field presence and hands-on approach to safety leadership.

•

Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships and coach crews constructively.

•

Safety certifications such as CUSP, CHST, ASP, CSP are a plus but not required.

•

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products

•

Must be willing and able to travel throughout the U.S. as project needs arise.

•

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
