Overview
We are a certified Generac dealer seeking a skilled and dedicated generator service Technician to join our team. This role involves performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of generators in various customer locations. The ideal candidate will possess mechanical, and electrical skills with experience in small engine diagnostic and repair. A background in standby generator servicing would be preferred. The technician will need to travel from customer to customer with a company provided vehicle performing preventative maintenance duties and service repair work.
Paid training for Generac certification, if expectations are met during 90 day probation period.
Must be willing to work outdoors year round.
- Conduct on-site inspections, diagnostics, and repairs of standby generators
- Perform routine maintenance and preventative services on standby generators
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues using schematics and technical manuals
- Repair or replace components utilizing hand tools and power tools
- Diagnose electrical problems and perform wiring repairs or modifications as needed
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation of all work performed
- Assist customers with operational questions and provide technical guidance
- Conduct heavy lifting of equipment parts or units safely during service procedures
- Follow safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment at all times
- Occasional on-call situations
- Knowledge of schematics, electrical systems, and small engines
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering, and vehicle maintenance
- Familiarity with Caterpillar or similar heavy-duty equipment brands is a plus
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
- Mechanical knowledge combined with troubleshooting skills for complex systems
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in physically demanding environments
- Strong diagnostic skills using schematics and technical manuals for electrical and mechanical systems
- Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining high standards of safety and quality
