The Mighty Argo Cable Car (MACC) in Idaho Springs is a state-of-the-art cable car system connecting visitors to Colorado’s rich mining heritage, scenic mountain trailheads at Virginia Canyon Mountain Park, and sweeping views of the Colorado Rockies from Miner’s Point—a vibrant recreational complex featuring dining, an amphitheater, and year-round events and activities for all ages.
The Facilities and Grounds Technician is a hands-on, frontline team member responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and operationally ready environment across all public and back-of-house areas. This role supports facilities upkeep, exterior grounds maintenance, parking lot operations, snow and ice management, and guest wayfinding. This position plays a critical role in protecting MACC’s physical assets while ensuring smooth guest flow and a welcoming, well-maintained destination in a high-volume, high-altitude tourism environment.
- Conduct routine inspections of walkways, stairs, parking areas, and public spaces to identify and mitigate safety hazards.
- Support snow and ice removal, de-icing, and weather response procedures.
- Maintain clear pedestrian and vehicle pathways to support safe guest movement.
- Report hazards, maintenance needs, or facility concerns to the Facilities & Grounds Supervisor promptly.
- Reinforce safe work practices and proper use of tools and equipment.
- Safely handle, store, and dispose of cleaning chemicals, fuels, and maintenance materials in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS), PPE requirements, and environmental best practice, report spills or exposure incidents immediately.
- Attend and actively participate in required safety training, including Hazard Communication (HazCom), Safety Data Sheet (SDS) protocols, proper PPE use, spill response procedures, and safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and maintenance materials.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks including lighting replacement, fixture repairs, signage adjustments, trash and recycling management, and general upkeep.
- Assist with basic troubleshooting of facilities issues and escalate complex repairs appropriately.
- Support preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Maintain operational readiness of restrooms, public spaces, and high-touch areas.
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of outdoor areas including entryways, walkways, plaza areas, amphitheater seating, playground surroundings, and perimeter grounds.
- Operate grounds equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, snow removal equipment) safely and responsibly.
- Support landscaping tasks including debris removal and seasonal transitions.
- Direct traffic and assist guests with parking during normal operations and peak periods.
- Support parking lot organization, signage placement, and traffic control plans.
- Monitor accessibility compliance and clear emergency access lanes.
- Assist with event-day parking logistics and surge staffing needs.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of special events and high-volume operational days.
- Partner with Guest Services, Retail, and Lift Operations teams to maintain smooth guest flow.

- 1+ year of experience in facilities, groundskeeping, maintenance, landscaping, parking operations, or similar hands-on environment.
- Ability to work outdoors in variable mountain weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong awareness of safety practices and hazard mitigation.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Successful completion of background check and pre-employment drug screening in accordance with applicable laws. Marijuana is excluded from the pre-employment drug screening panel.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and peak tourism periods.
- Experience in tourism, attractions, resorts, ski areas, or outdoor recreation venues.
- Experience operating snow removal or grounds equipment.
- Familiarity with basic building systems (lighting, plumbing fixtures, minor repairs).
- Experience supporting high-volume parking or event logistics.
- Basic understanding of proper PPE use.
