The Mighty Argo Cable Car (MACC) visitor experience in Idaho Springs is a state-of-the-art cable car system that connects visitors to Colorado’s rich mining history, scenic mountain trailheads at Virginia Canyon Mountain Park, and breathtaking, panoramic views of the Colorado Rockies from Miner’s Point — a vibrant recreational complex featuring dining, an amphitheater, and year-round events and activities for all ages.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Facilities & Grounds Supervisor who is committed to delivering a safe, well-maintained, and welcoming environment that enhances the guest experience while supporting efficient, reliable operations. In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll oversee the appearance, functionality, and operational readiness of MACC’s facilities and public spaces, taking ownership of daily execution and operational standards.
This position is responsible for supervising front-line, non-exempt staff across Facilities, Grounds, Janitorial, and Parking operations, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, service, and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians throughout the site. Serving as a critical link between day-to-day operations and long-term facility stewardship, the Facilities & Grounds Supervisor plays a key role in protecting the organization’s physical assets while supporting the needs of a year-round, high-visibility tourism destination.
- Promote safe work practices, ensure staff adherence to procedures, and maintain clear communication across teams/shifts for operational continuity.
- Report incidents, hazards, or facility concerns to the Lift & Facilities Manager promptly.
- Support compliance with local, state, and federal regulations for facilities operations, including CPTSB coordination.
- Manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for cleaning chemicals, solvents, and maintenance solutions ensuring 24/7 access, oversee safe storage, handling, disposal, conduct, spill training, and maintain usage or incident logs.
- Implement LOTO procedures for equipment and grounds tools; inspect and maintain machine guards on powered equipment (e.g., mowers).
- Conduct routine safety audits of facilities, grounds, parking areas, walkways, ladders, and elevated work surfaces to identify and mitigate hazards related to slips, trips, falls, and vehicle or pedestrian movement.
- Support safe operation of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems by ensuring lockout/tagout procedures, signage, and vendor safety protocols are followed during maintenance and repairs.
- Oversee the cleanliness, appearance, and functionality of all public-facing and operational areas, ensuring safe operations and a high-quality guest experience.
- Support seasonal transitions and special event preparation, including increased guest volume periods.
- Oversee day-to-day condition and functionality of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
- Perform basic troubleshooting, monitoring, and first-response assessments for facilities systems issues and escalate complex repairs to qualified vendors or internal maintenance partners as appropriate.
- Coordinate and oversee vendor-performed HVAC, electrical, and plumbing repairs and preventive maintenance, ensuring quality workmanship, safety compliance, and minimal disruptions.
- Support preventive maintenance schedules for facilities systems (e.g., seasonal HVAC readiness, lighting inspections, plumbing fixture checks) to reduce downtime and guest impact.
- Maintain documentation, work orders, and service records related to facility systems within the CMMS or digital tracking tools.
- Supervise parking staff to ensure consistent guest service, clear communication, and efficient vehicle flow during normal operations, peak periods, and special events.
- Coordinate parking plans for high-volume days, special events, and seasonal surges, adjusting staffing, layouts, and traffic patterns as needed.
- Monitor parking areas for safety hazards, accessibility compliance, snow and ice conditions, and maintenance needs; coordinate timely mitigation.
- Oversee daily staff scheduling, attendance, task assignments, and workforce planning for peak periods/events to ensure adequate coverage.
- Directly supervise non-exempt team members across Facilities, Grounds, Janitorial, and Parking operations.
- Provide daily direction, coaching, and support, ensuring a high-performing, safety-focused, and cohesive team.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and performance management of assigned staff.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture focused on safety, service, and professionalism.
- Partner with frontline teams to maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment across all facilities and grounds.
- Support a high-quality guest experience by promptly addressing concerns related to cleanliness, safety, or facility conditions.
- Coordinate communication with guest-facing teams regarding operational updates, weather impacts, or service changes to maintain smooth guest flow and consistent messaging.
- Model professionalism and effective communication when engaging with guests, vendors, or contractors, escalating compliance or regulatory concerns to management when appropriate.
- Monitor and help manage inventories of supplies, equipment, and materials, flagging operational needs or shortages to the Lift & Facilities Manager.
- Coordinate with vendors/contractors for facilities repairs, grounds services, and equipment rentals, ensuring quality work and compliance with site safety protocols.
- Support preventive maintenance scheduling for grounds equipment (e.g., mowers, snow removal) and facilities systems to minimize downtime during peak seasons.
- Participate in cross-department coordination with Guest Services, Events, Maintenance to support site-wide operations and special projects.
- Maintain operational logs, work orders, and inventory records using CMMS or other digital tools, reporting metrics to the Lift & Facilities Manager.

- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience in facilities, groundskeeping, janitorial, hospitality, tourism, or similar operational environments.- Working knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, sufficient to supervise maintenance activities, identify issues, and coordinate repairs.
- Ability to read and interpret basic schematics, manuals, or service documentation related to facilities systems.
- Proficient with Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or digital work order tracking software.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to lead diverse teams.
- Commitment to safety, cleanliness, and guest service excellence.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- ·Must be able to respond rapidly to operational or safety emergencies following established procedures.
- Ability to successfully complete a background check and pre-employment drug screening in accordance with applicable laws. Marijuana is excluded from the pre-employment drug screening panel.
- Trade-adjacent experience (facilities maintenance, building engineering, or similar) preferred; certifications a plus but not required.
- Experience supervising non-exempt, hourly staff in a fast-paced setting.
Please note: This role does not require licensed trade credentials but does require practical experience overseeing and coordinating facilities systems and vendors.
- Salary Range: $70,000 - $88,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
- Eligible for annual performance-based bonus.
