The Weld Layout Fitter plays a key role in supporting the welding team by preparing, organizing, and staging components for TIG welding operations. This position ensures a consistent flow of materials and accurate layout of parts in accordance with engineering drawings and blueprints. The ideal candidate has a strong attention to detail, understands basic fabrication processes, and can thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to identify required welding components.
- Collect, organize, and stage parts and hardware into product kits for welders.
- Distribute and maintain the steady flow of materials to welding stations to ensure on-time production.
- Utilize material handling equipment (hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts) safely and efficiently.
- Accurately measure, mark, and lay out components using tools such as tape measures, squares, and protractors.
- Verify part dimensions and tolerances to ensure proper fit prior to welding.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety protocols.
- Assist with inventory control and documentation using Microsoft Office or related software.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1–2 years of experience in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and shop drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Proficient in the use of basic hand tools and measuring instruments.
- Basic math and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to lift and move up to 100 lbs of aluminum components safely.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one preferred.
