- Ensure production schedules are met: plan, prioritize, and allocate resources to achieve daily/shift targets, minimize downtime, and maintain flow through the fabrication area.
- Oversee equipment and manufacturing processes: ensure fabrication machines (e.g., saws, punch presses, brakes, welding, forming) are operated safely and efficiently; coordinate preventative maintenance/repairs.
- Maintain product quality and specifications: review drawings/BOMs, ensure fabrication meets engineering and design requirements; respond to quality issues/defects.
- Promote and enforce safety, housekeeping, and environmental standards: create/maintain a safe work environment, ensure compliance with OSHA/industry regulations and company policies.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives: drive lean manufacturing practices, identify process bottlenecks, waste, improvement opportunities, and work with engineering/management to implement changes.
- Training and development: develop training materials, cross‑train staff; support the growth of the fabrication team.
- Metrics and reporting: track KPIs (production output, scrap/rework rates, downtime, equipment utilization, safety incidents), analyze data, and report to management; recommend corrective actions.
- Collaboration: work closely with engineering, quality assurance, maintenance, materials and scheduling departments to coordinate production, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless operations.
