The Fabrication Manger ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Fabrication Manger will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy.
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
The general purpose of the Fabrication Manger is, under the direction of the Production Manager, to coordinate and manage the workload for the fabrication department and is responsible to ensure the department produces quality products efficiently as possible within a safe work environment.
- Ensure work environment is safe for all employees.
- Ensure process is controlled and is providing a quality fabricated product.
- Ensure process is meeting departmental production and efficiency goals.
- Complete semi-annual reviews for departmental employees.
- Mentor departmental supervisors as necessary.
- Ensure departmental employees are adequately trained and are competent in the position or positions they perform.

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands refers to the level and/or duration of physical exertion generally required to perform occupational takes (sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing and pulling).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. Perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders and upper body. The employee if regularly required to use hands handle and feel and reach with hands and arms.
The employee will occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Hearing protection is required on the production floor.
Employee is expected to wear the required personal protective equipment when on the production floor.
