- Extensive experience as an excavator operator

- Reports to: Directly to the Foreman or Superintendent, and indirectly to the Area Manager
- Direct Reports: None.
- Job performed on a mine or construction site including exposure to dust; noise; hot and/or cold temperatures; and in proximity of vehicles and other heavy equipment
- Shift is usually 10-12 hours per day dependent upon work schedule and rotation. Overtime is almost always required.
- Rotation will be 20 on 10 off.
- Possible risk of ergonomic-related injury, repetitive stress injury, etc.
- Mental strain due to remaining alert for long hours, maintaining safe working procedures
- Physical strain due to greasing, fueling, climbing into and out of equipment, etc.
- PPE required
- Excavate, load and grade earth, rock, gravel or other materials during construction and related activities.
- Clear brush and stumps prior to construction activities and build and maintain access and construction roads.
- Excavate rock, ore and other materials from open-pit mines, quarries or construction pits.
- Move, load, and unload cargo
- Compact gravels and other aggregates
2) Operate other heavy equipment as necessary, such as bulldozers, loaders, graders, compaction equipment and scrapers
3) Conduct pre-trip inspections before shift and report any issues found.
4) Clean, lubricate, and refill equipment when not performed by an on-site mechanic or fueller.
5) Maintain the stability and reputation of the organization by complying with legal requirements.
6) Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish the job results.
7) Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
8) Be conversant with relevant sections of the Safety Program.
9) Understand WorkSafeBC acts and regulations, as well as the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in BC.
