Engineering Technician 1

Elliot is a full-service electrical contractor specializing in overhead and underground distribution, transmission, substations, engineering, lighting, traffic signaling, utility locating and industrial/commercial services.

Job Description

- Walk right of ways various terrain in potentially adverse conditions to patrol distribution line damage

- Carry and handle telescopic measuring stick and switching stick that weigh approximately 11 lbs.

- May be required to use a brush axe or machete to clear brush for walking and staking during survey work

- Demonstrate ability to work with others in supplying information and seeking assistance as necessary

- Applies technical knowledge and experience in resolving problems encountered in assigned work

- Uses initiative in looking for opportunities to improve the process and increase job knowledge/technical skills

- Communicates effectively both orally and in writing with other employees and customers

- Assists in the preparation of technical reports and papers.

- Develops decision making skills based on job knowledge.

Qualifications

- High School Diploma plus 2 years of related utility industry work experience

- Or an Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering Technology

- Gain knowledge of standards, codes, and regulations relevant to distribution utility line construction.

- Gain knowledge with pertinent equipment, material, systems, and business processes

- Possess basic computer literacy skills.

- Perform work activities as assigned with coaching from more experienced employees.

- Valid Driver's License and Safe Driving Record required.
