We are seeking a motivated Summer Engineering Intern to support an ergonomic assessment project focused on improving workplace safety, efficiency, and employee well-being. The intern will assist in analyzing workstations, tools, and processes to identify ergonomic risks and recommend practical improvements.
- Conduct ergonomic assessments of workstations, tasks, and workflows
- Collect and analyze data related to posture, repetitive motion, force, and task duration
- Assist in performing time studies and motion analysis
- Use ergonomic assessment tools (e.g., RULA, REBA, NIOSH lifting equation)
- Document findings through reports, charts, and presentations
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and safety teams to develop improvement recommendations
- Support implementation and validation of ergonomic solutions
- Maintain compliance with workplace safety standards and guidelines
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
- Basic understanding of ergonomics, biomechanics, or workplace safety principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools
- Ability to communicate findings clearly in written and verbal formats
- Detail-oriented with strong observational skills
- Willingness to travel as necessary
- Familiarity with ergonomic assessment methods (RULA, REBA, etc.)
- Experience with CAD tools or simulation software
- Coursework or project experience in human factors or occupational health
- Interest in workplace design and continuous improvement
