# Engineering Intern – Mechanical or Electrical (Spring 2026)

Met Weld's manufacturing facility and Quality Assurance Programs deliver a controlled approach to each project and ensure the highest level of quality and service for our customers.
Met Weld International ("MWI") is seeking a mechanical or electrical intern for the 2026 spring semester to join the activities of its Engineering Department. This position reports to the Engineering Manager in our Altamont, NY facility.
- Review and revise drawings as needed based on feedback from engineers, internal customer requests, customers, or project managers.
- Maintain and organize drawing files, records, and design documentation.
- Verify measurements and specifications to ensure drawings are accurate and complete.
- Performs other related duties as assigned in support of Business objectives and plans.
- Junior or Senior currently enrolled in an accredited 4-year college or university Engineering Program.
- Hands-on individual with a strong mechanical or electrical aptitude.
- Basic understanding of technical drawing, blueprint reading, and design principles.
- Attention to detail with strong analytical, problem solving and conceptual thinking.
- Excellent mechanical and technical skills.
- Ability to be flexible, motivated, resourceful and organized in a multi-functional role.
- Solid communication, organization and time management skills.
- Design Software: Inventor and AutoCAD experience is a preference.
- Proficient with the Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to access the shop floor to perform inspection of machinery to help assess and record as-built conditions of machinery and fabrication best practices.
