The Engineering Assistant will provide support to the Director of Engineering and the engineering department by coordinating a variety of day to day tasks and assisting production to achieve target output with quality product.
- Effectively communicate design change requests to the director for approval by getting the paperwork and details from the shop floor employees.
- Take completed designs and enter them into company systems
- Assist with the creation of designs by planning preparation activities, performing design computations, generating models using AutoCAD/SolidWorks
- Assist with the preparation of estimates, cost reports, forecasts, schedules, account codes, budgets, and change orders.
- Coordinate quantity estimates by obtaining and analyzing data on unit labor costs and unit material costs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Computer aided design experience with AutoCAD/SolidWorks/Inventor is a must and/or one to three years of experience in a machining shop, fabrication shop, mechanical engineering, or structural engineering.
- Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and excel.
- ERP software knowledge required, Epicor experience is preferred.
- Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate and work effectively with officials at all levels of the company.
- Receptive to expanding knowledge and learning new skills.
- Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
