Engineers complete the design for projects, processes customer service requests, generate cost estimates, determine easement and permit requirements, support project scheduling, and prepare completed project documentation and provide regular updates to maintain data in work, safety, asset, hydraulic modeling and geographical information systems.

The Engineer communicates with internal and external customers, visits project work sites and effectively balances their time in the office and in the field.

FOCUS: Engineering, Safety and Regulatory Compliance

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Conduct surveys of pipeline construction routes and determines optimum locations for pipelines and related components; specifies gas facility types, sizes, and materials to meet D.O.T. design requirements on all varieties of NEO distribution pipelines; and dictates gas handling requirements, including materials and procedures for system maintenance and modifications.

- Figures pipeline and component flow capacity at various pressures, as well as pressure drop at specified flow rates through various pipelines and related components. Review and approve design work by others for service lines for capacity and sizing.

- Calculates all aspects of pipeline and components strength testing requirements including design limits, pressure, test medium, and timing.

- Prepares construction drawings, including high pressure distribution lines and pressure regulating stations; prepares and maintains maps; and reviews municipal as well as private construction drawings to determine interference with proposed or existing NEO facilities and negotiates changes to minimize interference.

- Subject Matter Expert for instrumentation, measurement and control.
