Responsible for the proper electrical maintenance of all systems at the Generation and Water facilities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operation.
- Responsible for the electrical maintenance of all systems at the Generation and Water facilities, including:
- Plan (in conjunction with Planning & Scheduling) and distribute work to crew to ensure efficient, safe, and timely completion of all work and electrical projects. Coordinate manpower needs with other supervisors and Planning & Scheduling to balance manpower levels to meet emergency work, scheduled work, and control backlog.
- Ensure proper materials, tools, and documentation are available for assigned tasks.
- Ensure all tools and equipment used at the Generation site are maintained in safe working condition.
- Submit new and revised bills of material or parts lists for equipment for entry into the computerized maintenance management system.
- Submit new and revised preventive maintenance schedule items for entry into the computerized maintenance management system
- Assist as needed in scheduling routine and corrective maintenance and electrical projects.
- Identify and recommend equipment for replacement and assist in the planning for equipment and electrical system replacement.
- Supervise the activities of Electricians, including the following:
- Review time tickets for accuracy.
- Make recommendations for hiring, promotion, evaluation, discharge, or other disciplinary action.
- Train employees on MP&W policies and procedures and ensure employees understand thoroughly.
- Provide guidance to staff regarding work procedures, technical issues, work priorities, and special requests.
- Assess, actively develop, and set goals with employees to assist in their preparation for future growth within the Utility.
- Develop/maintain a culture of continuous improvement within the department. Utilize lean principles and other continuous improvement tools in an effort to maximize the efficiency of the department.
- Develop/maintain a culture of safety within the department. Support the Utility's safety programs, ensure adequate training, and provide safe working conditions and practices.
- Ensure quality customer service is provided and that work is completed accurately, thoroughly, safely, timely, and that employees are as productive as possible.
- Act as backup for Technical Supervisor as needed.
- Conduct job briefings and safety meetings for subordinates.
- Ensure the preventive maintenance program is administered effectively and efficiently for applicable systems and facilities. Recommend changes to upgrade existing system.
- Ensure all documentation relating to work is updated after work is completed. This may include: change management information, work orders, bills of material, drawings, equipment history, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associate's degree in industrial electrical systems, electronics, or engineering technology or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Minimum 5 years of power plant or heavy industrial experience. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of the electrical systems and equipment at the generation site.
- Excellent working knowledge of the Hold Tag, Confined Space, Hot Work, Fire Protection, and Emergency Response programs at the Generation site.
- Working knowledge of the computerized maintenance management system.
- Understanding of machine tools, hand tools, and rigging.
- Knowledge of the NEC and its application.
- Knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and listening skills, with ability to build productive professional relationships and promote a team atmosphere.
- Proficiency with use of Microsoft Office Word and Excel at a basic level.

- Must comply with the Respiratory Protection Policy.
- Work environment is primarily in an industrial coal-fired power plant or other outdoor job site. Part of each day is spent in an office environment.
- Must comply with all safety and site rules at all locations.
