Electrical Engineer (Power) – 5–7 Years Experience
Location: Houston, TX (Onsite) Employment Type: Full-Time Work Authorization: U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder required
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with 5–7 years of professional engineering experience, preferably in the oil & gas industry, and a strong interest in power systems. The ideal candidate has a solid technical foundation in industrial electrical design, experience supporting capital projects, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
- Design, analyze, and review electrical power systems including low, medium, and high-voltage distribution
- Prepare engineering deliverables such as one-line diagrams, schematics, load studies, panel schedules, grounding/lighting layouts, and equipment specifications
- Support engineering design for oil & gas facilities, pipelines, terminals, refineries, or processing plants
- Perform or review power system studies (short circuit, load flow, arc flash, and coordination)
- Select and specify electrical equipment including switchgear, MCCs, transformers, VFDs, UPS systems, and generators
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, API, NFPA, etc.)
- Provide technical support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup
- Coordinate with project managers and other engineering disciplines
- Review vendor drawings and documentation
- Support project schedules, budgets, and quality control processes
- Promote a strong culture of safety and regulatory compliance
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited program preferred)
- 5–7 years of relevant electrical engineering experience
- Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments strongly preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (or active pursuit)
- Strong knowledge of industrial and power distribution systems
- Experience with power modeling software (ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower) preferred
- Familiarity with U.S. electrical codes and industry standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
- Willing and able to work onsite in Houston, TX
