Snohomish PUD is seeking a self-starter who enjoys working in a collaborative team environment. This position requires experience with electric power systems and makes frequent use of such tools as power flow analysis software. The successful candidate will become part of the Planning team and may also act as lead on the Planning team.
Distribution planners provide settings for voltage regulation devices, specify size, location, and operation of reactive power sources, perform flicker and power quality analysis, and develop contingency switching plans for System Operators to use when abnormal conditions occur so that system overloads and unacceptable voltages don't result. Transmission planners perform system assessments to maintain and demonstrate compliance with NERC reliability standards. In addition, planners work as a team develop load forecasts, perform system impact studies for major load or generation interconnections, and develop system improvement projects to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective electric service to our customer-owners.
Successfully provide technical, engineering, and project management services related to the design, maintenance, operations, improvements of and additions to the District’s facilities and systems in a technically sound, safe, timely, and cost effective manner to enable the District to realize its goals and objectives. Plans, organizes, assigns, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Performs as project leader on medium to large projects and assignments.
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field, AND
- Four (4) years of related engineering experience;
- Eight (8) years of directly related engineering experience and a Washington State Professional Engineering License (PE) in-lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field, AND
- Six (6) years of related engineering experience;
- Ten (10) years of directly related engineering experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field, AND
- Eight (8) years of related engineering experience;
- Twelve (12) years of directly related engineering experience.
- Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
