Acero Engineering Inc. (“Acero”), a growing oil & gas facilities engineering company providing engineering, procurement and construction management expertise is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill one role as an Intermediate Electrical Engineer/Engineer-in-Training .
Acero is focused on facility and pipeline engineering, procurement and construction management services; from concept evaluation to plant start-up. Our core service offering is in-house project management, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control engineering, project engineering, procurement, regulatory services, civil and structural engineering, and construction management.
Responsibilities
- Issuing RFQs, handling clarifications, performing bid evaluations & recommendations (for typical electrical equipment and more complicated equipment) accurately and without errors.
- Assembling construction work packages proficiently.
- Writing DBMs and construction work packages - essentially independent of supervisor.
- Independently conceptualizing drawings and work packages required for a given project and independently coordinating the project drawings and work.
- Helping to run small projects with support from a PM; understanding how to represent Acero to the client; presenting technical information coherently; and meeting project timelines and cost estimates.
- Presenting competent schedules with all major work processes in correct order.
- Completing technical reports, progress reports, and communications on technical and project matters.
- Understanding cost controls, document control, progressing project and cost schedules.
- Coordinating HAC drawings, load calculations, load lists, SLD's, layouts, cable tray routing, and spacing.
- Some Instrumentation and Controls understanding and capability is required as well: shutdown keys, control valve / safety valve sizing, etc.
- Other tasks/responsibilities, as required
- Minimum of 4 - 8 years as an “Electrical Engineer-in-Training” in Oil and Gas Facilities in Western Canada. Co-operative work experience (including field-based) is an asset
- An understanding of Instrumentation and Controls would be very beneficial
- P.Eng. status would be beneficial
- Strong ability to navigate drawings (such as P&IDs) would be an advantage
- Comfortable with electrical code, standards, specs etc.
- Comfortable working knowledge of CEC and Regulations
- Understanding and working effectively with Word, Excel, Project, Visio, Powerpoint
- Excellent team collaboration and interpersonal skills
- Strong written, verbal, analytical and critical thinking skills
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight timelines as occasionally demanded by our clients
