Compensation: $75,000–$90,000 base salary (depending on experience) + uncapped commission + profit participation + long-term ownership path
Northeast Solar is a locally owned solar, storage, and electrification company serving Western Massachusetts. We are highly skilled, hands-on, and built around long-term relationships—with our customers and with each other.
We design, install, and service what we sell. Our work goes beyond solar panels alone—NES delivers a full residential and light commercial energy stack, led by solar PV and air-source heat pumps, and supported by battery storage and EV charging. Our reputation is built on quality work, honest advice, and standing behind our projects. We are not a volume-driven, sales-at-all-costs company, and we do not want to become one.
We are looking for a senior sales and marketing leader who wants to build real responsibility and long-term value, not just hit short-term numbers.
The end of the federal tax credit has reset the solar market. Companies that relied on that crutch are scrambling. NES saw this coming and adapted—we've launched new zero-down financing options that make solar, ASHP and energy storage accessible without high-interest debt, and we're positioned to take market share while others figure out their next move.
This role is for someone who wants to help us capitalize on that moment. You'll need to sell, not just manage. You'll need to build systems, not inherit them. If that sounds like work, this isn't for you. If it sounds like opportunity, keep reading.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who wants to be deeply involved in both selling and building systems.
You will work directly with ownership and gradually take primary responsibility for:
- Keeping track of every lead, where it stands, and what needs to happen next
- Understanding how much work is sold, what is coming next, and how it lines up with installation capacity
You will sell projects yourself. You will help shape how NES goes to market. Over time, this role is designed to grow into a true ownership-level position for the right person.
This is not a corporate environment. There is no large marketing department, no layers of management, and no interest in inflated titles. Everyone here wears more than one hat.
- Sell and close NES's full energy stack, with emphasis in this order: solar PV, air-source heat pumps, battery storage, and EV charging
- Focus on profitable, well-fit projects—not just volume
- Use social media deliberately to support sales, credibility, and referrals—not for vanity metrics
- Oversee practical digital marketing efforts (email, basic SEO, partnerships)
- Ensure every lead is tracked, followed up, and qualified
- Improve conversion rates from inquiry to contract
- Learn and confidently sell NES's full energy stack, not just solar
- Sell solar and air-source heat pump solutions as primary offerings, with storage and EV charging integrated where appropriate
- Sell cash, loan, and third-party ownership options responsibly
- Match the right products to the right customer
- Protect NES's reputation for transparency and long-term value
- Strong understanding of the Massachusetts solar market (SMART program, Net Metering, MassSave incentives)
- Proven ability to generate leads, not just close them
- Comfortable working without a large staff or large budgets
- Financially disciplined—you know when to walk away from bad deals
- You care about how a business runs, not just your commission
You should be someone who sees the difference between being an employee and thinking like an owner—and wants the latter.
We are serious about building toward partnership. For the right person, we are prepared to discuss equity participation after 12–18 months of demonstrated results. This is not a vague promise—it is the reason this role exists.
We are building something durable and local. We want a long-term partner, not a short-term hire.
- You will have real influence, not just targets
- Your performance will directly shape your compensation and long-term opportunity
- This role is intentionally structured to grow into an ownership stake for the right person
