You are a high-performing Director of Construction
who leads multiple Construction Managers across challenging, complex, and fast-paced projects with a steady focus on execution, accountability, and results. Views operational friction, schedule pressure, underperforming teams, and organizational gaps as opportunities to strengthen systems, improve leadership alignment, and drive better field performance. This role is disciplined, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to stabilize difficult projects, restore momentum, and build repeatable processes that scale across regions and portfolios.
You understand the priorities across development, engineering, procurement, construction, finance, and asset management. Skilled at managing through Construction Managers by setting clear expectations, coaching teams, removing roadblocks, and holding teams accountable to safety, schedule, budget, and quality performance. Able to convert competing priorities into coordinated execution plans with measurable outcomes.
Known for stepping into challenging construction situations and creating structure where it is needed. Does not wait for perfect direction or ideal circumstances but instead quickly identifies what is broken, develops practical solutions, aligns internal and field leadership, and drives implementation through completion. Effective at managing difficult interconnection situations and subcontractors as well.
Renewable Acres is seeking an accomplished
Director of Constructionto lead all field construction operations across multiple regions and project sites. This leadership role is responsible for the successful delivery of utility-scale solar, battery storage, and renewable infrastructure projects through a team of Regional Construction Managers who oversee local project execution teams.
The Director of Construction will establish standards while empowering regional leaders to execute safely, efficiently, and profitably. This role requires strong operational discipline, leadership development skills, and the ability to manage multiple CM’s who are overseeing active projects simultaneously across various areas of the state of IL and eventually PA.
- Directly manage and mentor Construction Managers responsible for designated projects in IL and eventually PA.
- Establish clear goals and accountability for safety, schedule, staffing, quality, client satisfaction with minimal change orders.
- Conduct weekly operating reviews with Construction Managers to assess project health, staffing needs, risks, and financial performance.
- Lead Construction Managers accountable to KPI metrics including schedule adherence, labor productivity, safety performance, change order capture, and margin performance.
- Develop annual performance goals, succession plans, and leadership growth pathways for regional management teams.
- Ensure consistent execution standards across all regions and that SOP’s and project requirements are being adhered to across the program.
- Provide escalation support to resolve critical issues involving schedule deficiencies, subcontractor failures, client concerns, or schedule recovery plans.
- Will lead and maintain Safety Program, OSHA needs, ISNet, etc.
- Oversee all construction execution through regional teams for utility-scale solar and BESS projects.
- Balance manpower, equipment, and management resources between areas of work, based on project demand.
- Approve regional staffing plans for Construction Managers, QA/QC, and Safety personnel.
- Standardize field reporting, construction dashboards, forecasting, and closeout processes across all regions.
- Lead monthly regional business reviews covering manpower loading, project risks, claims exposure, subcontractor status, vetting new subcontractors, and forecasted revenue.
- Review and approve construction budgets, labor curves, indirect spend, and equipment utilization plans.
- Create reports on project controls to evaluate earned value, cost-to-complete forecasts, and margin performance by region based on budget versus actuals.
- Drive accountability for construction P&L performance and project cash flow objectives in conjunction with project management.
- Support change order review and related process, and recovery of delays or owner-caused impacts.
- Ensure each Construction Manager maintains industry best safety performance across assigned projects.
- Implement uniform HSSE standards, audits, incident response protocols, and corrective action tracking.
- Require consistent QA/QC execution including inspections for first articles of inspection, definable features of work, turnover packages, punch list closure, and commissioning readiness.
- Benchmark regions against one another to drive continuous improvement.
- Recruit and onboard Construction Managers as the company grows from a project perspective and also into new markets (BESS, etc.).
- Build leadership bench strength for future Directors, PMs, and Operations team.
- Create standardized training for field leadership on QA/QC, scheduling, contract items, owner relations, and construction best practices.
- Foster a high-performance culture centered on accountability, professionalism, and teamwork.
- Support Construction Managers in client meetings and project escalations.
- Maintain strong relationships with developers, utilities, and subcontractors in each region.

- Safety Representative- 7+ years of construction leadership experience in utility-scale solar, EPC, renewable energy, or heavy civil construction. - 5+ years managing region operations leaders.

- Strong understanding of scheduling, project controls, contracts, cost forecasting, and labor productivity.
- Experience managing large portfolios of simultaneous renewable energy projects.

- Salary $150,000 - $170,000 (negotiable based on experience annually, dependent on experience, qualifications, and competencies. Bonus up to 20% of Annual Salary.
