Job Summary
This position serves as a vital liaison between customers and the New Services group, managing the end-to-end process of new utility service requests. The role combines customer communication, administrative coordination, and data management to ensure seamless service installations for residential customers and builders. While supporting new service connections, you will handle high-volume inquiries, coordinate billing setup, maintain accurate records, and provide essential GIS support. This is a customer-focused position that requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple service requests simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and professionalism. The role offers an opportunity to develop technical skills in utility systems and GIS applications while building strong relationships with customers and internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Serve as primary point of contact for residential customers and builders requesting new utility services
- Answer customer inquiries regarding service installation processes, billing procedures, and project timelines
- Communicate updates and information clearly and professionally, including delivering challenging news when necessary
- Receive and process new service requests from initial contact through completion
- Gather required load information and billing details from customers to support service setup
- Verify job site readiness for service installation and coordinate with field teams
- Enter and maintain accurate customer and service data in company systems
- Support billing setup and manage back-end documentation for new service accounts
- Manage multiple small work orders simultaneously while maintaining organization and meeting deadlines
- Use GIS systems to enter new service locations and create basic service layouts
- Initiate utility locates through State 811 systems, create locate tickets, and mark utility areas
- Respond to locate-related inquiries and coordinate with relevant parties
- Collaborate with internal business call lines and service teams to ensure smooth request fulfillment
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication abilities

- Familiarity with GIS systems (preferred but not required)
